On any given project the labor/material split for a drywall scope of work is roughly 50/50. Gypsum board experiences an average increase of about 10% per year and can fluctuate with the cost of energy and fuel. Sheet steel for steel studs, resilient channel and cornerbead is a highly volatile commodity. It can sometimes go down in price, but can also experience rapid upswings with little warning.
